In August of 2014, I went in for my annual mammogram, nine months late, because in the past they were excruciating due to my breast type and I had become extremely fearful. Surprisingly, I experienced no pain this time, but I left the office with a feeling of foreboding. I just knew something was wrong.

I asked Shellise to paint a picture for my office based on Genesis 39:23, “ The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.” I gave Shellise full creative license to paint whatever The Lord gave her. I believe she did an outstanding job. The paining is colorful, vibrant and communicates the blessing of the Lord. It sets the spiritual tone for my office and all who walk into it. “Shellise and I met several years ago when Alignable first started groups and hosted events. She impressed me with an idea she had. We talked further and her idea ended up coming to fruition. I marvel at her artistic talent and her heart for helping people through challenges with healing from cancer. She created a special series of events for creating an art piece depicting one's soul through their journey in healing from cancer. Dignity, the deepest respect for another human, and the depth of her ability is indescribable. Seeing the results of one of her participant's pieces and hearing their story about their artwork is sacred ground. Shellise's compassion combined with her heart's desire to provide a place for others to come through a tumultuous time is goodness at its best. Shellise is such a precious gift.
